Rainy/Windy/Foggy Day, then Sunny/Hot Day!!

Tuesday, Uncle Art woke me up at 4:40 AM like usual, and I made a half of a sandwich to pack in my lunch. I had a yogurt for breakfast, then we got in the truck and drove down to the Wharf. Uncle Art said it would be a Noonish day, and it was really foggy while we were driving down to the Wharf. Uncle Art brought the Lobster boat into the wharf, and I got on and we were off to start our day. It was raining a little bit when we got on the boat, but not to hard. We started hauling, and it slowly got worse, and it got to the point where the rain was annoying so I put on my rain jacket.

I do not like wearing a rain coat while working, because when I have the hood over my head, it can mess up my head scarf that I wear to keep my head back, and it is harder to move my head around with out messing up my head scarf. It rained until about 8:00 AM. I took my rain coat off at that point, and it felt better to work without the coat on. About 2 hours later, it started to rain again, but a little bit harder, so I wore my raincoat again. About an hour later, it stopped raining for the rest of the day. Tuesday we ended up with 400 Lbs which was okay for being done a little bit before Noon.

For dinner on Tuesday, we had lasagna, with some cheesy garlic bread.

It was very delicious!

Wednesday I woke up at 4:40 AM again, and Uncle Art made me a breakfast sandwich type thing that resembled a breakfast McMuffin from McDonalds, with meat and cheese in-between a biscuit. We drove down to the Wharf and there was no fog in sight. It looked like it would be a nice day today, once we got out onto the boat, I could tell it was going to be very sunny. We hauled in the harbor, some in the channel, and mostly we were close to the land today.

In one trap that we pulled up today, there was a nice looking Cod.

Later today, we found a big male lobster in our trap that was a keeper.

If you cant tell by the pictures, it is bigger than most of the lobster that we catch and we were able to keep it. Later near the end of the day, while we were hauling a trap, we pulled up another trap other than ours, and it was an old trap that was all beat up. It looked like this.

It had no buoy on it, so if it hadn't got stuck in our rope, we would have never found it. It was so beat up we just let it go back down into the water. It was cool to see though. Here are some cool pictures of Whitehead island while we were working today.

Cool picture with the seagull.

We ended up with 541 Lbs today (Wednesday). We had a ton of old shell today, about 30 Lbs which is a lot. Today was probably the most sunny day we have been out, the sky was pure blue, and the sun was the brightest I have ever seen, so I had a lot of sunscreen on. Its better than yesterday with all the fog, rain and waves to make it hard for us to work.
